Affordable and scalable communications solutions

In plain English

In plain English, nexSwitch provides full billing systems, Level 4 and Level 5 softswitches. nexSwitch is a fully scalable switch for transporting telephone calls with a tie-in to a full billing system. The switch and applications are perfect from small service provides to large ILECS and CLECS. Along with the ability to run on a distributed Intel platform, the systems are available on the IBM z Series platforms allowing the ability to leverage existing equipment and at times by simply turning on an engine.

How does the billing system work?

For a CLEC or ILEC the billing system works using a powerful SQL database on HIATLANTIS, a powerful supply chain/CRM application. The billing system takes information from the actual call record detail and generates a bill per the billing cycle automatically or based on "tank balances" for prepaid customers. Regardless of the number of switches in use, the application will gather all billing information and generate the bill. A customer can be on multiple switches in multiple locations or a single location.

For a large business enterprise, the system can provide SIP/VoIP services to divisions, operating companies and individuals in any location around the country or world. By combining telephony services into an enterprise, a company can save on the overall telephone expenses. If you're a large enterprise with multiple locations, the application can save your organization thousands to millions per year in telephone call savings. If you have a z Series mainframe already, chances are you can leverage the mainframe as your billing system.

What is a softswitch?

Softswitches are the heart of today's SIP/VoIP networks delivering voice communications. Originally softswitches were modeled after the traditional TDM switches they were designed to replace them, but now have been able to take advantage of the flexible nature of IP networks to implement distributed switching architectures. nexSwitch has morphed into a core call control element in the center of the network. Basically, calls are transferred from one one location to another over IP and at times a TDM network.
